MappingAccess.com is an open directory of Access Television Stations and Community Media Centers. Its mission is two-fold:
The future of Access Television is our network: communication, collaboration and shared resources is the new face of community media. MappingAccess.com is a tool for acknowledging the ubiquity of Access Television and providing a means for stations to better work together. Awareness of one another is the first step.
In order to provide such a powerful tool freely and accessibly, MappingAccess.com is designed to empower stations to submit and maintain information about themselves. By self-empowering the MappingAccess.com's users, our developers can best develop and improve the tools themselves.
Lastly, your feedback is important in order to best serve the needs of Access Television and Community Media. Please contact us.
Producers' Forum is designed and maintained by Ben Sheldon, an AmeriCorps*VISTA currently serving through the CTC VISTA Project. He has been supported by Peter Bull of the DigitalBicycle Project.
MappingAccess.com is built upon Drupal, a powerful, extensible, accessible and no-cost open source content management system. Mapping tools are provided by Google through their API.
Producers' Forum: An independent community of Public Access TV producers for knowledge sharing and collaboration. Anyone can quickly and easily create a group with a synchronized mailinglist and wiki.
DigitalBicycle Project: DigitalBicycle is a project dedicated to making it easier for PEG Access television station,Community Media and Technology Centers and independent media producers, to distribute media content amongst themselves and a wider audience. Using Bit Torrent, RSS, and Drupal web community software, we hope to simplify collaboration and cable access syndication.
