Our trip to Thailand had been long awaited, originally planned
for the winter of 94/95. My wife Karin had bought the maps and
books and even packed; we were off. The balloon was ready at
Thunder and Colt with a heavy duty basket tailor made for hard
use overseas. And then they went bust. The delay meant that we
missed the relatively short window available for flying in
Thailand. So it was rainy old England for most of the winter and
a rethink of the plan for us. I had been asked to go out ...

Mauritius has successfully managed to position itself as an
exotic beach destination. With beach destinations so plentiful,
this has been sustained not by mere hype, but by the substance
there is to this claim. Visitors are drawn to Mauritius by the
reputation of its 140 km of white sand beaches, and the superb
opportunities for water sports. Swimming, beach combing,
sailing, surfing, kayaking, diving and deep-sea fishing - there
is a sport for almost everyone.
Arab traders discovered the then ...

When many people think of travelling to see a sports event their
mental images are often tarnished by traffic jams, long journeys
and suspect sandwiches from motorway service stations. In fact
if you add into the mix your team of choice getting thumped then
your day out can turn into an extremely miserable one!
While you will never be able to guarantee the outcome of the
event, there are several measures you can take to make sure you
enjoy your trip away - not least slowing things down and ...

Where is New Zealand, exactly? New Zealand is two islands in the
Pacific, but it is not a Pacific Island.
All those islands we normally think of as "Pacific": New
Caledonia, Fiji, Tonga, the Cook Islands, and Tahiti, lie
between 15 and 23 degrees South.
They are north of the Tropic of Capricorn...
... New Zealand is south of it. By a long way.
New Zealand stretches from 35 to 47 degrees south, and covers
270 000 square kilometres. It is:
the size of Burkina Faso, Colorado, Equador, the UK, or ...

Canada is located in North America and stretches all the way
from the Atlantic to the Pacific, being made up of ten Provinces

States of America and the West by the Pacific Ocean and Alaska.
A country of outstanding natural beauty, Canada has a wide
variety of landscapes; the mountains, the prairies, lakes ...

"Attendance at an ethnic event while traveling is a great way to
experience the heritage of the area being visited. It can also
be a way to introduce the traditions of a travel destination
that will be featured on an upcoming international itinerary."
For over six centuries people have been arriving on these shores
to find a new home. Most have sought to blend with the
multi-cultural way of life that is now the norm in almost all
communities and regions throughout the continent. ...

Shopping for presents, viewing the holiday lights, partying with
friends and families, or just relaxing by the fire -- these are
timeless traditions we all love and share, regardless of race,
religion or ethnicity because they symbolize one abiding hope
--peace and good will among men. Perhaps no one is more aware of
the importance of such traditions than the owners of our beloved
B&Bs, whose inns are the very symbol (essence) of the cozy
American hearth and home.

Athens is a huge, congested city and the local taxis are your
main means of getting around. The average Athens tax ride is
inexpensive, just bring your helmet.
Living on the Edge
I had just arrived in Athens with a couple who'll remain
nameless. [He's now a respectable doctor and married to someone
else.] My buddy, "John", had a Greek friend who lived in town
named Stavos. We were going to stay with him and explore Athens
before heading to the islands.
Stavos had gone to college with us in ...
